Cedric Burnside, grandson of legendary R.L. Burnside, son of drummer Calvin Jackson and four-time winner of Blues Music Award’s Drummer of the Year (2010-2014), has been playing music all his life. He has developed a relentless, highly rhythmic charged style that takes the blues to another level. In 2010, Cedric created The Cedric Burnside Project with his brother Cody and uncle Garry to keep the Mississippi Hill Country Blues alive by honoring the past, while blazing a path towards the future. Following the tragic death of his brother, Cedric has kept the flame burning by recording and touring around the world with guitarist and lifelong friend Trenton Ayers.
Trenton Ayers, son of guitarist Earl “Little Joe” Ayers, is known for his deep knowledge of the blues and virtuoso skills on both the guitar and bass, while keeping it fresh, new and exiting. Ayers joins his childhood friend on his mission to bring the North Mississippi sound to the world. Their latest album, Descendants of Hill Country, was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Blues Album of the Year. The two come together to create a sound that is both traditional blues and new-school funk.
