This breathtaking Ukrainian quartet combines sounds rooted in Ukranian culture with Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian traditional instrumentation. Playing concerts worldwide from Spain to Australia, DakhaBrakha has stolen the show at major festivals including Bonnaroo and Glastonbury.
Formed in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art in Ukraine by Vladislav Troitskyi, an avant-garde theater director, DakhaBrakha is unlike any band that most people have ever heard. The members perform wearing tall woolen hats, layers of beads and striking costumes. Their dramatic music features several unexpected tempo changes, fearless vocals and unique instrumentation that often whips audiences into a blissful frenzy. Although they speak limited English, DakhaBrakha's gorgeous music transcends language barriers.
