Easy, breezy melodies and soul-shaking grooves radiate from this genre-bending roots trio. Dangermuffin brings thoughtful tunes that are both heartfelt and truthful. Their haunting harmonies and go-with-the-flow vibe invite listeners to kick back and relax to ethereal rhythms and inspiring messages. Lyrically, they evoke themes of self-discovery, ancient knowledge and true awareness, all within a unique and casual approach.
Based in Folly Beach, SC, the group is anchored by the lyrical wit of songwriter Dan Lotti. Completed by Nashville-veteran percussionist Steven Sandifer and lead guitarist Mike Sivilli, Dangermuffin brings a fresh perspective and new level of groove to American roots music. It’s no surprise that Dan Lotti’s formative years were spent during the grunge era, with Eddie Vedder and Nirvana inspiring him to pick up an electric guitar. Combined with Sivilli’s taste in classic rock, punk and bluegrass, Dangermuffin’s performances contain a rock and roll attitude with improvisations and jams that have brought the band a loyal fan base.
Dangermuffin has released five full-length albums in their eight-year career, with their latest release Songs for the Universe (2014) deriving inspiration from the band members’ spiritual growth and connection with nature. The album starts with the lyrics, “I want to know it and sing it from my soul”—we’ll be there to hear it resounding from the Levitt AMP stage.
