Funky Blu Roots

September 05, 2016 at 7:30pm

Blues band the Funky Blu Roots strikes a chord with lively guitar licks and a blazing harmonica.

Formed in 2005 by husband-wife duo Mikal Serafim (guitar, vocals) and Nancy Giannone (bass guitar), this Pompano Beach, Fla.-based band performs original songs and covers by artists such as The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix.

The Funky Blue Roots have appeared onstage with such acts as Jefferson Starship, Smokin’ Joe Kubek & B’nois King and Victor Wainwright. They were an audience favorite at the 2014 Mont-Tremblant International Blues Festival in Quebec, Canada. The band is touring during this summer to promote their upcoming album, Barn Burning.
