Greensboro's Tribute to STAX Records

July 01, 2017 at 6pm

Following in the fun and success of the 2016 Levitt AMP Greensboro Music Series tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the Greensboro All-Star Tribute tradition will continue with a nod to STAX Records this year. Countless hits by artists like Otis Redding, Sam and Dave and Isaac Hayes, among others, were released on this label. Called “North Carolina’s best guitarist” by Triad City Beat, Greensboro’s Sam Frazier is leading a hand-selected band of first-call musicians and vocalist to take on the legendary catalog of hit songs from Mepmphis’s iconic STAX Records. Featuring: Chuck Cotton (drums), Roger Kohrs (bass), Bill Stevens (keys), Sam Frazier (guitar, director), Rusty Smith (Trumpet), Matt Kosma (tenor saxophone), Anne-Claire Niver (vocals), Steave Headon (vocals), Logie Meachum (vocals), Jasme Kelly (vocals).
