Find the funk in Charlottesville this summer with exciting New Orleans outfit Naughty Professor.

Founded in 2011, this band’s mission is to capture the high-energy, jazz-influenced party culture of the Big Easy. John Culbreth (trumpet), Nick Ellman (saxophones), Ian Bowman (saxophone), Bill Daniel (guitar), Noah Young (bass) and Sam Shahin (drums) perform complex compositions with powerful horns, chill bass grooves and plenty of improvisation.

Naughty Professor has shared the stage with GRAMMY Award-winning artists such as Snarky Puppy, Rebirth Brass Band and renowned bassist Victor Wooten. The band’s albums—theep (2011), Until the Next Time (2013), Out on a Limb (2015) and In the Flesh (2016)—carry on the traditions of New Orleans jazz with an added bonus of funk flavor.
