Indie pop band One Red Martian matches wailing electric guitar with daring, ethereal vocals.
Inspired by their father’s work as an audio engineer, brothers Jimi (guitar, vocals), Ben (bass) and Joe Woodul (drums), along with their longtime friend Dan DeKalb (piano, synth, vocals), founded One Red Martian in their hometown of Newport, N.Y. in 2004. Over the next decade—which included relocations to Dallas, Texas and Albany, N.Y.—the band members developed their musical style, a thoughtful mix of metal, lyrical ballad and pop that bears the influences of Kings of Leon, The National, Peter Gabriel and Ben Folds.
One Red Martian’s third album, following Studio Dog Sessions (2008) and Spit My Brain (2011), was released in April 2016. Titled Late, this 12-track album showcases One Red Martian’s signature introspective, yet whimsical sound.
