The Mayor's Players

Celebrate Asbury Park’s musical traditions with former town mayor Kevin G. Sanders and his jazz/R&B band The Mayor’s Players.

Popular local group The Mayor’s Players, formed in 2001, features talented musicians Sanders (vibes, percussion), Donnie Harrell (keyboards, flute), Rodney Williams (tenor/alto/soprano sax), Al Johnson (drums) and Pablo Claudio (bass guitar). The band performs with singers and instrumentalists from across the tri-state area at jazz concerts, schools, conventions, weddings, nightclubs, boardwalks, beachfronts and private parties. The Mayor’s Players, which performs covers and original songs, opened for former Styx member and Beatlemania star Glen Burtnik at the Asbury Park Musical Heritage 2011 Celebration.

Parking will be available on the lot across the street from the park on Springwood Avenue. There will also be free street parking available on Springwood Avenue. 

Park rules

There is no alcohol allowed at the public park. Guests may bring food an non-alcoholic beverages. Food will be available for purchase at the site. It is recommended that guests bring lawn chairs. 

Rain Location

The rain location of the event is the Asbury Park Transportation Center, located adjacent to the Police Department on Main Street in Asbury Park. The location is only 100 yards east of Springwood Park. Rain notice will be posted by 12:00pm the day of the event on the Asbury Park Music Foundation Facebook page, as well as on the Foundation's website
