The Poetry Cafe

August 05, 2017 at 6pm

Hosted by poet, educator, and entertainer, Josephus III, the Poetry Café is a monthly open mic event and a weekly radio show on WNAA 90.1FM that features poetry, spoken word, and music by artists ranging from local to international fame. As Josephus III says, “the goal is building community through sharing our lives and telling our stories. Life is a stage! We want you to come join ours!” On Saturday, August 5, 2017, the Levitt AMP Greensboro Music Series will combine the Poetry Café’s finely-curated cast of poets and musicians with live musical sets by Greensboro’s Tanya Ross and the nationally recognized spoken word poet Moses West of Jacksonville, Florida. Joining Ross and West will be the Poetry Café house band and the Gate City Youth Slam Team. This will be an evening of interactive, inspirational, soulful poetry and music that will have you moving, snapping, and clapping with the unique words and beats that make up the spirit of the Poetry Café!
