Experience an authentic journey into Mountain Music traditions with the local Cowan Creek Mountain Music School faculty concert. Mountain music has been passed down through the generations as young learners listened to and played along with their older family members and neighbors. In keeping with this tradition, the Cowan Creek Mountain Music School is a unique community presence that unites musicians across all ages, backgrounds and skill levels to keep the rich tradition of Appalachian folk, sweet bluegrass jams and rustic folk music, ingrained in the cultural fabric of the United States, alive.
Faculty members performing as part of the troupe include a 'Who's Who' list of old-time traditional mountain musicians, including Tatiana Hargreaves, Don Rogers, the Local Honeys, John Haywood and Kentucky Wild Horse, to name a few. Be sure to experience these skilled musicians who will take you to the roots of some of America’s earliest musical traditions.
