Swedish folk band Jaerv playfully infuses jazz and pop into traditional Scandinavian folk songs to create fresh, invigorating interpretations of classic tunes. This five-man band combines talent, humor and musicality in exciting live performances, that are filled with five-part vocals, energetic dances and free-flowing improvisations. Between all five band members, the group has mastered a wide array of instruments—with Joel Hagen on flute, whistles and saxophone; Anders Bergsten on double bass and keyfiddle; Harald Nilsson on guitar and vocals; Markus Gustavsson on fiddle; and Tobias Hedlund on percussion. Their eclectic and vivid sound enchants audiences with its originality and tranquil blend of acoustics. Their discography includes Inrikes (2019), Vol 2 (2014) and their critically acclaimed 2016 album, Under den Linden.
Jaerv is established in the folk music scene and has toured internationally in the United States, Japan, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Finland and Norway. In 2016, Nordstjernan Magazine named Jaerv “one of Sweden’s most inventive folk bands,” and the Royal Academy of Music praised the band for their singing, playing and storytelling.
As a critically acclaimed composer and the drummer for the GRAMMY award winning group Mannheim Steamroller, Tom Sharpe produces a sound of layered instruments that smoothly take audiences on a whimsical auditory journey.
