Roanoke is a folk/Americana duo-fronted band from Nashville, Tenn., that uses rich harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and roots music to create a captivating and unique sound. Roanoke first began their journey in 2014, finding their sound at the junction of Americana, indie rock and folk music. Taking on Nashville’s music scene like many transplants before them, the core of Roanoke quickly grew into a close-knit musical collective that encapsulated the atmospheres of back-porch Americana, folk singalongs and the heartland that raised them. In May 2016, the band released their self-titled debut album, which won the hearts of fans and critics alike, such as Huffington Post and No Depression, the latter describing their sound as “ageless and expressive.” They have earned a reputation for their spirited live performances.
2018’s EP Where I Roam consists of five tracks that explore varied landscapes and sounds; from the vast expanse of folk into the crowded parlor of rock, the core of the album remains true to the spirit of Americana, encouraging listeners to discover their own new paths and highways. With nationwide tour dates and many more recordings ahead of them, Roanoke and their members embody the nomadic, stargazing sound of their music.
