Multiple award-winning band Sultans of String adeptly combine elements of flamenco, gypsy jazz, Arabic and Cuban music with South Asian rhythms. With several critically acclaimed studios albums under their belts, this Canadian outfit is hugely popular in their home country where they have earned three JUNO (Canadian GRAMMY) nominations and have hit #1 on the radio charts.
Using sitars, violins, guitars and percussion to great effect, their acoustic strings meld with electronic wizardry to create layers of depth and sound, while world rhythms get audiences on their feet with the undeniable need to dance. Equally at home at music festivals and folk or jazz clubs, they have been featured at many taste-making forums such as JUNOFest, legendary jazz club Birdland in New York City, and the San Jose Jazz Festival in Northern California. Sultans of String are also Levitt veterans, having performed at Levitt Westport (2014, 2013) and Levitt SteelStacks (2013). They have sold out Koerner Hall (Toronto’s Carnegie Hall), and performed with Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Ontario and Niagara Symphony Orchestras. They have also wowed audiences performing live on BBC TV, Irish National Radio, and on internationally syndicated shows including World Cafe and on SiriusXM.
