Refreshing vintage jazz act Sweet Sheiks brings a modern touch to traditional jazz, blues and Americana tunes with an energetic flair and toe-tapping musical prowess. Formed in 2016 in Milwaukee, this relatively young band has an old soul, drawing inspiration from the music of the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s, especially that of New Orleans. Led by the soulful brassy vocals of Jen Müttin-Schrank (also playing guitar, musical saw and washboard), the five-piece outfit includes Ousia Lydian on vocals and violin, Garrent Burton on resonator and banjitar, Andrew Spadafora on clarinet, and Aaron Johnson on tuba to bring a a little bit of the Big Easy to their home in the Brew City.
Sweet Sheiks has given electrifying performances to audiences across Wisconsin including those at the Sugar Maple Traditional Music Fest in Madison and at Folklore Village in Dodgeville.
